The Business France Space at SIM Senegal 2025: a hub for innovation and Franco-African partnerships
— Mr. Samba Fall, Industry & Cleantech Advisor, Business France Senegal–Mauritania, answers questions prepared by AmeTrade Ltd as part of the SIM Senegal 2025 event.
1. Every year, Business France supports French companies in their international development. What does SIM Senegal represent for you as a platform for meetings and business opportunities?
For us, SIM Senegal is a strategic and essential platform for the international development of French companies. It is a dynamic event that brings together economic, institutional, and industrial players, promoting exchanges, partnerships, and the discovery of concrete opportunities in the Senegalese market and more broadly in West Africa in the extractive sector.
As a specialized advisor, I see SIM as a powerful lever for:
Identifying reliable local partners,
Understand the specificities of the market,
Promote French expertise,
And accelerate the implementation of projects.
It is also a showcase for French companies wishing to establish or strengthen their presence in the region, with the support of Business France and a favorable local ecosystem.
2. You are organizing French Mining Days @ SIM 2025 – Senegal. Can you explain what this initiative involves and what your objectives are for this edition?
French Mining Days @ SIM 2025 – Senegal is an initiative led by Business France that aims to promote French expertise in the mining sector to Senegalese and regional stakeholders.
This edition is part of a dynamic of economic and industrial cooperation, with the main objective of promoting partnerships between French companies and local stakeholders, whether public or private. Through this initiative, we are pursuing several objectives:
Highlighting French expertise in mining technologies, engineering, services, and sustainable solutions
Facilitate B2B meetings between French companies and operators in the Senegalese mining sector
Create a framework conducive to the exchange of information, understanding of local issues, and identification of concrete opportunities for collaboration
And strengthen France’s presence in a sector that is strategic for Senegal’s economic development.
3. The theme of this 8th edition of SIM Senegal is “Mineral resources, a lever for economic sovereignty.” How does Business France help strengthen synergies between French companies and their African counterparts in the mining sector?
Business France plays a key role in strengthening synergies between French and African companies in the mining sector, particularly through initiatives such as SIM Senegal.
The theme of this 8th edition—“Mineral resources, a lever for economic sovereignty”—highlights the strategic importance of the mining sector for the autonomous development of African economies. In this context, Business France acts as a catalyst for cooperation. Our actions are focused on several areas:
Organizing targeted B2B meetings to promote commercial and technological exchanges
Promoting innovative French solutions for sustainable resource management, local processing, and the digitalization of mining operations
Supporting French companies in their understanding of local, regulatory, and environmental issues
And creating sustainable partnerships with African players, with a view to co-development and skills transfer.
Through SIM Senegal, Business France is helping to build bridges between the French and African mining ecosystems, in an approach that respects local priorities and focuses on inclusive and sovereign development.
4. As an exhibitor, Business France will have a meeting space at the trade show. What will visitors be able to discover there, and will only French mining companies be featured?
The Business France space at SIM Senegal 2025 will be much more than just a booth: it will be a real hub for meetings, exchanges, and promoting French expertise in the mining sector. Visitors will be able to discover a selection of innovative French companies active in different segments of the mining value chain: exploration, engineering, equipment, services, environment, safety, digitalization, etc.
However, the space will not be exclusively dedicated to mining companies. We will also be showcasing French players offering cross-cutting solutions that are useful to the sector: industrial technologies, financial services, training and skills transfer, sustainable development, and social and environmental impact management.
The aim is to promote synergies between French and African companies by creating an environment conducive to exchanges, partnerships, and the joint development of projects tailored to local realities.
